Stuart J. Sokol, Ph.D.

Stuart J. Sokol, Ph.D. is a licensed Clinical Psychologist in Hamden, Connecticut. Dr. Sokol works with adults and adolescents, specializing in treating anxiety disorders and stress-related problems. He is certified in Panic Control Therapy and typically uses a Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) approach. Dr. Sokol has worked for the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and has an extensive background in forensic psychology. From 1992 to 2010, Dr. Sokol consulted with the Connecticut Department of Children and Families and worked with adolescents in residential treatment, focusing on social skills, family issues, trauma and abuse, and attention deficit and disruptive behavior disorders. Dr. Sokol has served as an Adjunct Clinical Faculty member for the Psychiatry Department at Yale University School of Medicine, teaching and supervising residents in psychiatry in CBT. He has also been a Clinical Associate for graduate psychology programs in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Puerto Rico. He has been a research psychologist at Yale’s Anxiety Disorders Research Clinic and has been involved in teaching and supervising programs for psychology research projects in the community. In 2010, Dr. Sokol joined Acute Services at Connecticut Mental Health Center, which operates under the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services and Yale University and serves adults with serious mental health and/or addiction problems.
